The Latvian folk dance group JUMIS unites Latvian folk dance enthusiasts from the New York metropolitan area to preserve Latvian culture through dance by performing for the local Latvian community and children, representing Latvia to a greater American public and dancing for our own individual enjoyment.

Founded in the Fall of 2003 in New York City, we are comprised of Latvians, Latvian-Americans and their spouses. Jumis has performed throughout the East Coast, as well as in Canada. Performances have included the New York Times Travel Show in New York City (2004-06), the XII Latvian Song Festival in Toronto (2004) and the XII Latvian Song Festival in Indiana (2007).
